The rules
Five rules. The site checks every one of them against your actual Spotify playlist before you can lock in.
- 1
Exactly 100 songs
Not 99, not 101. Your top 100 of all time, in whatever order you like.
- 2
One song per artist
Every credited artist counts, features included. If Drake is on a track, that's your Drake pick. No second Drake song, no second feature.
- 3
Released after you were born
Every song must have come out in your birth year or later. If you were born in 1991, nothing from 1990 or earlier.
- 4
Real songs only
No podcasts, no local files, no duplicates. Pick the original release rather than a remaster or compilation, because Spotify dates the version you pick.
- 5
Locked forever
While it's pending you can change it as much as you like. Once you hit submit, that's your list. For life.
Setting up the playlist
- Name: exactly
Your Spotify Name - 100 Bangers, using the display name on your Spotify profile. Capitals and spacing don't matter. - Description: include
born 1991with your own birth year. Anything else in there is fine. This is how we know the year to check against, and only the owner can edit a playlist's description, so it also proves the list is yours. - Visibility: public. Private playlists can't be read.
- Release dates: we use the release date Spotify shows for the album version you picked. A 2015 remaster of a 1975 song counts as 2015, so don't be that person. Pick the original.
Why forever?
Because a top 100 you can edit next week isn't a top 100, it's a mood. Locking it makes you commit, and it keeps the stats honest. While your list is pending you can change it as much as you like.
